Limited time only. Here's how this works: 1) Apply online. Get a response in as little as 30 seconds. If you’re approved, we will instantly add the card to your Amazon.com account and you’ll get $30 back on your credit card statement after your purchase. 2) Add a Kindle to your cart. 3) Place your order using the Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card and enter this promo code: VISACARD to get the additional $70 savings at checkout. Additional restrictions apply.

And that's not all -- I hate to be a cheerleader for plastic in these hard times, but that Chase card will continue to provide you with cash back on all your Kindle (and other Amazon) purchases. It is large, serious, full of seduction and admonition, peopled with venerable mentors and mercenary pretenders, all arranged invitingly where we may have the greatest difficulty discerning between those who can assist us in the complicated processes of connecting our work with readers, of polishing and publishing, of discerning quality and disposing of dreck, and those whose only interest is in depositing our checks or online payments. One need only peruse the ads arrayed in the various writers' trade and craft magazines to conclude that writers spend tens of millions of dollars fueling the writer development industry – on workshops, conferences, retreats, MFA programs, book coaches, writing books, writing software, literary services, magazines, writing contests, vanity presses, advertising, fee-based literary agencies, marketing, and other permutations – all in hopes of taking their work to the next level, and perhaps even of hitting some imagined "big time" as authors.
Some of this money is very well spent. Some of it, whether or not it is well spent in terms of bringing positive results for those spending it, has the palpable benefit of providing support or even a living for serious writers who are themselves employed in this industry in one way or another. Some of it, it will come as no shock when disclose it here, includes the money that writers spend on this book. I make no apology for this fact, but I certainly accept and own the responsibility to do all that I can to make the entire project worth your while and your expenditure.
